Chief Executive

The Charities Regulatory Authority is Ireland's national statutory regulatory agency for charitable organisations. It is an independent body established by the Minister for Justice and Equality on a statutory basis on 16 October, 2014 pursuant to the Charities Act, 2009.

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive is responsible for the day to day management and administration of the business and resources (financial and non-financial) of the Authority. S/He is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of high standards in implementing the functions of the Authority and ensuring a reputation for impartiality, management of conflicting interests, and upholding the public interest at all times. S/He is also responsible, in conjunction with the Board, for setting strategic direction and being the Authority’s public face.


The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Significant experience at an appropriately senior level and a track record of success as a manager and leader in either the public, private or non profit sector;
  2. Proven ability in effectively analysing information and developing and implementing appropriate strategy/policy;
  3. Strong managerial and organisational ability, including demonstrated ability to manage people resources and corporate affairs;
  4. Excellent communication skills and a track record of working effectively with key stakeholders.

This appointment is being made on a fixed term contract of 5 years.
